Moon’s Hat

I published a pattern! Back when my friends Moon and Jane traveled to Scotland they brought me some beautiful wool with an intriguing back story and I decided they should each have a hat from the skeins they brought.

Moon’s Hat was fittingly  conceptualized  on Moon’s porch! I house sat for them and their house in the woods proved to be the perfect space to ponder what type of hat they each might like.

Moon’s Hat is an easy going, easy to knit, and easy to wear, unisex hat. The look of the hat can change easily depending on your yarn and color choice. It knit up beautifully in the super wooly, grey, Scottish dk I used. It would also be well suited to a smooth, squish-worthy, hand dyed merino.  It’s easy going, unpretentious, and darn fun–just like its namesake.

The pattern is simple and is suitable for anyone who can knit, purl and decrease in the round. It knits up quickly, and you could churn out a whole bunch of them for holiday gifts in all sorts of different colors. You can download the (free!) pattern on Ravelry, and check back here soon–I’ll add a downloadable link in the sidebar of the blog. I would love to see any versions that are knit up! Feel free to email me with pictures or tag pics on social media as #moonshat and #class5knits !
